My last blog post dates back to sometime in 2010. A long time ago. Since then, most of what I shared online was on social platforms, primarily Instagram. For a while, that worked. Over time, it stopped feeling like the right place to share photographs and the stories that often come with them.
I have been wanting a space of my own again. A place that feels slower, more intentional, more flexible and just better suited to photographs. I have been reading and being inspired by blogs that do this well, like arun.is, as well as a few Substacks such as Gentle Rhythms and Zach Klein’s. Creating “A window to the past” gave me the nudge I needed to finally start writing again.
This Journal is meant to sit alongside the photographs. It is a place for longer thoughts, travel notes, and reflections around images and projects that do not always fit elsewhere. I do not have a strict plan for what or how often I will post, and will let it take shape slowly.
If you would like to stay in touch with what I publish here, there is a Substack connected to the site. It is simply a way to receive updates when new posts go up, likely every few months for now.
For now, this feels like the right place to start.
Welcome.
